52 Reasons to Hate my Father- Jessica Brody

Title: 52 Reasons to Hate My Father
Author: Jessica Brody
Source: Bought New
Series: No
Rating: 4/5

Lexington Larrabee has never to work a day in her life. After all, she’s the heiress to the multi-billion-dollar Larrabee Media empire. And heiresses are not supposed to work. But then again, they’re not supposed to crash brand new Mercedes convertibles into convenience stores on Sunset Blvd either.

Which is why, on Lexi’s eighteen birthday, her ever-absent, tycoon father decides to take a more proactive approach to her wayward life. Every week for the next year, she will have to take on a different low-wage job if she ever wants to receive her beloved trust fund. But if there’s anything worse than working as a maid, a dishwasher, and a fast-food restaurant employee, it’s dealing with Luke, the arrogant, albeit moderately attractive, college intern her father has assigned to keep tabs on her.

Thoughts:

This book provided exactly what I was looking for. I just finished the Madman's Daughter by Megan Shepard which was dark and spooky so I wanted something more light and this book delivered exactly what I was looking for. It was so funny and sad. It was just so good.

Characters:

I thought that Lexington was a complete and utter horrid person. She was so snotty to everyone and treated everyone like they were beneath her. I know Lexington is this rich snotty girl but I wanted to smack her so hard. I thought she completely deserved what her father dished out to her. Luke oh Luke I have to mention you because you were so amazing. He completely took Lexi's dad's side on the whole situation and did not bend to her will like some of the other characters did ( cough Hiracio), he was a good balance for her. I loved the side characters, her dad seems like this distant figure but he knows exactly what is going on and puts his foot down. I loved all the characters.

Plot:

When I read the synopsis I knew I had to own this book. I loved the unique plot. I loved the idea of it and how it played out. Understandably it was a little predictable but I loved it none the less. Lexi tried out so many different jobs and had some pretty hilarious encounters when she got there.

Conclusion:

This was my first Jessica Brody book and she did not disappoint. I absolutely loved this book and I am so glad that I decided to buy it. I am definitely going to be reading more of her books in the future.

  2. I have recently read Unremembered by Jessica Brody and I liked the first half, I did not like the second. I am not sure that I am willing to read anything by her again. But you made this one sounds interesting. I may look into it.

    Thanks for the review.
